If you haven’t listened to Solange’s new album absolute masterpiece A Seat at the Table yet, we highly recommend doing so. Her voice is glorious, her message is powerful, and her artistry has never been more impactful.
Big sis Beyoncé took to Instagram to support Solange, naturally, with a message filled with support and empowerment:
The message reads:

And damn straight this album is a work of art. A Seat at the Table features incredible talents such as Kelly Rowland, Lil Wayne, Dev Hynes, Moses Sumney, and more.
According to Solange, the album is meant to provoke healing and the journey of self-empowerment. She has also said that it is about identity, empowerment, independence, grief and healing, and mentioned that she began writing this masterpiece four years ago.
Here are a few commanding and important lines from the song, Don’t You Wait:
Now I don’t want to bite the hand that’ll show me the other side, no
But I didn’t want to build the land that has fed you your whole life, no
Don’t you find it funny
The album is experimental, featuring interlude tracks that tell different stories from different peoples’ lives with similar themes and emotions centering around identity and empowerment. To put it simply, the lyrics are poetic and the visuals belong in a photography exhibit.
Obviously, we’re not surprised — we’ve known that Solange was everything to us the day she dropped her first song. We’re just incredibly proud of this woman and honored to listen to her perspective and wisdom.
