Mr Eazi Insists He Brought Ghana Sounds Into Nigerian Music

Nigerian singer, Oluwatosin Ajibade, aka Mr Eazi has been in the news lately over some statements he has been making.

Despite being lambasted for claiming that the introduction of Ghanaian sounds and slangs into Nigerian music was started by him, Mr Eazi insists he brought Ghana sounds to Nigerian music.

In a chat with Sunday Scoop, the ‘leg over’ crooner said;

    “The interview that caused this uproar was just me speaking my mind and saying things the way I see it from my perspective. It wasn’t meant to be an insult to any Nigerian artiste. You cannot deny that I brought a new vibe to the industry and I believe everybody can see that. Now, there are lots of Nigerian artistes who use Ghanaian words and melodies in their songs, but they’ve never been to Ghana. So how did they get to know about those words? There are a lot more songs out now that have that Ghanaian influence, and with all due respect, I can boldly say that started after my songs started gaining popularity.”

Speaking on the $6,000 job he allegedly turned down for music, Mr Eazi said:

        “I turned down the job; I didn’t say I had started working there. I don’t think there is anything wrong with being an intern. I don’t have anything to gain by lying about such a thing.

        The truth remains that I was offered a job by Schlumberger, but I decided not to take it, but rather concentrated on my career. And that is a decision I’ve never regretted till date.”

Nollywood actor, Olu Jacobs in an interview, narrated the challenges he faced on his quest to be an actor and how he reponded to racism challenges in britain.
Jacob in an interview with THE PUNCH, described his father as the only obstacle stood between him and a burning ambition to relocate to England and start a career in acting.

He said,
“My Dad did not want me to go to England. I was his favourite child. When I said that I wanted to act, he said I should do something else and not anything that would take me away from him.”

This may sound funny to a lot of Nigerians today, especially in these tough times that parents would do anything possible to send their children abroad in search of the proverbial Golden Fleece. But such was the bond between the actor and his father that the latter became scared of allowing him to settle in a foreign land.

On why he chose Britain to learn acting;
“At that time, if you desired to do this job that we are doing in the arts, you had to go to either Europe or America. France was out of the question for me because I didn’t speak French. I still don’t speak French neither do I speak German or Russian. English was the language of communication that I knew and whatever I wanted to learn I preferred to do it in the language that I understood. And since we already had a relationship between Britain and Nigeria, it was much easier for me to go to England,” he said.

The racism challenges he faced;
“I was a victim of racism all the time. You felt it in the way the people looked at you and in their attitude toward you. But you could not do anything about it. I could not take somebody to court for that,”

“A white woman once called me a dog. She had a vacant room for rent. But when I approached her, she asked if I didn’t see the ‘No dogs’ sign on her door. Before I could respond, she said that a dog was better than me and then slammed the door in my face. I felt so bad that I almost decided to return to Nigeria.” he said

Harrysong said, “That was the first time I experienced two new things in my life, because at that point I was going through a lot in life. So many artistes had done various songs for him but I remember that on that day we were waiting for someone to come for their studio session, I was advised to seize the opportunity and sing the tribute song for Mandela because I was inspired by his story and he was not only loved in South Africa but the whole world.

“After a week I was informed that the song had trended on social media and I was also told the amount it had fetched. I remember that I was in my house when my manager called me to tell me the good news and eagerly said that we were going to the Grammy award because of the song. He shouted, ‘see money’ and we were very excited about the development. He told me to leave my house and meet him at a location fand rom there we went shopping and he took me to some other places. From there, I was supposed to perform somewhere in the north and I was crying all through that journey. I remember that Kcee had tried several times to get me a pass for Headies award, but with that song, I won an award. It was a privilege to sing the song.”

Wiz Khalifa’s Mother Files Defamation Lawsuit Against Amber Rose

Katie Wimbush-Polk, Wiz Khalifa’s mother, is taking his ex-wife Amber Rose to court. According to the Washington County Observer-Reporter, Wimbush-Polk filled a defamation suit against Rose after Rose allegedly made a “profanity-laced” phone call that Wimbush-Polk believed to be accusing her of being a negligent parent.

Wimbush-Polk’s lawsuit alleges that Rose made a call to a number linked to Wimbush-Polk’s account on June 19. That day, one of Wimbush-Polk’s friends and employees, Danesa Lectic, had possession of the phone, and her her five year old niece answered the call. The Lawsuit alleges Rose launched into her tirade as soon as the niece answered the call.

When Lectic was finally able to identify herself, Rose continued to speak, alleging Wimbush-Polk had allowed her own daughter, Dorien, to die and therefore unfit to care for Sebastian, Rose’s son with Khalifa. Dorien who was Khalifa’s sister, died this past February after suffering from complications due to Lymphoma.

Wimbush-Polk is accused of making a call to California child services about Rose, which led 

Wiz’s ex to apparently make the call in question. In complaint, Wimbush-Polk says she made no such report at or around that time.

In the lawsuit, which was filed on Julyn3, 

Khalifa’s mother claims Rose’s comments were meant to harm her reputation in her community and that they dissuaded people from wanting to interact with her.

Wimbush-Polk is now suing Rose for $50,000 covering court costs, interest, punitive and other damages. Neither Rose nor Wiz have responded to the suit.

Shoprite Sales Girl Arrested for Stealing N553m

A sales girl with Shoprite stores, Eti-Osa, Lagos Mariam Mufutau has been arrested and arraigned before a Lagos Magistrate Court for allegedly stealing the sum of N553,956,000 she realized from sales just one month after she was employed.

The management of Shoprite Stores had reported a case of theft to the Divisional Police Officer, DPO in charge of Ilasan Division, Lekki, Eti-Osa, SP Oyinye Onwuamaegbu and that they suspected their sales girl to have stolen their N535,956,000 she realized from sales just one month after she was employed.
Following the report, Onwuamaegbu ordered Inspector Orukotan Lonikola to arrest the accused. During investigation, the accused could not give account of the missing money. Mufutau was arraigned before an Igbosere Magistrate Court, Lagos on a two count charge of felony to wit. stealing.
Police prosecutor, Esther Adesulu informed the court in charge No: J/38/2017 that the accused committed the alleged offence between 1 April and 31 May, 2017 at Shoprite Stores, Eti-Osa during working hours.
Adesulu told the court that the accused betrayed the trust reposed in her as a sales girl by her employer and stole the sum of N535,956,000 she realized from sales instead of remitting the money into her employer’s account, she was using her own personal POS to syphon the money. She said the management at Shoprite Stores uncovered the fraud when they audited the account.

Adesulu said the offence the accused committed were punishable under section 411 and 287 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015. The accused pleaded not guilty to the alleged crime and Magistrate O.O Owunmi granted her to bail in the sum of N300,000 with two sureties in like sum.
Owunmi adjourned the case till 28 July, 2017 for mention while the defendant was taken to Kirikiri Prison pending when she would be able to fulfill her bail condition.

While Amber Rose and few thousand of her supporters enjoyed the festivities at her annual SlutWalk, music producer and reality star Benzino took to social media Saturday (Oct. 1) to blast Rose’s initiative, and question where we are as a society.

Benzino took a screen grab of a headline that read “Amber Rose Needs Models And Artists For Her 2016 SlutWalk, So Get Your a** to LA” and wrote a lengthy caption in which he praised his own parenting, and bashed Rose and those who support her SlutWalk.

“Thank God my 19-year-old daughter doesn’t follow this garbage,” Benzino wrote. “Thank God she has parents to guide her from the B.S.”

The How To Be A Bad B*tch author was too busy entertaining those who attended her SlutWalk, one of which is her pregnant bestie Blac Chyna, to engage in a back and forth with Benzino. However, when she did get word of his scathing comments, Muva kept her cool and explained the purpose behind the event.
