WILL UNILORIN CONDUCT POST UTME

Since the federal Government has lifted the ban against post utme we all are still in doubt if unilorin will truly conduct the post utme but there are rumours of aptitude test for direct entry students.

Read what the federal Government said below

Fed Govt gives varsities nod to conduct post-UTME

The Federal Government has lifted the ban on the conduct of examinations usually organised by universities for admission seekers after the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examinations (UTME).

Minister of Education Adamu Adamu said  in Abuja that universities, polytechnics and other institutions were free to organise post-UTME screening as a pre-condition to gaining admission into public institutions.

He explained that the Federal Government scrapped the controversial examination in order to fully understand what was going on in the institutions.

The minister added that the government was now wiser regarding the conduct of the examination.

Adamu, in June last year at a combined policy meeting on admissions to Universities, Polytechnics and other higher institutions in Nigeria, in Abuja banned the examination.

He urged the institutions and its authorities to make the fees for the post-UTME screening affordable in order not to impose huge financial burdens on parents.

“The minister said: “We are going to allow universities to have some choice. Universities can now decide to organise post-UTME, if they want.

“We have asked them not to impose huge financial burden on the parents. The burden should not be more than what they can bear.”

He expressed confidence in the examination conducted by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB).

Adamu, who hailed the management of JAMB for remitting N5 billion to the Federal Government, said the money was the highest so far in the last 40 years of JAMB’s existence   .

LATEST NEWS ABOUT UNILORIN ADMISSION

UNILORIN LOGOUnilorin yet to release Admission Screening date
The attention of the management of the University of Ilorin has been drawn to a statement currently trending on some social media platforms to the effect that the University has announced the date and procedure for the screening of admission candidates for the 2017/2018 admission exercise.
The purported announcement even went as far as directing admission seekers to a phantom website on which to upload their eligibility details.

We want to state categorically that the University of Ilorin is yet to commence any screening for the 2017/2018 admission exercise. In fact, we are yet to release the cut-off marks for this year’s admission exercise. The online announcement is the handiwork of scammers and 419ers who are bent on taking advantage of the anxious admission seekers to fleece them of huge sums of money.
Perceptive members of the public ought to know, even from the headline of the statement, that such can never emanate from the University of Ilorin.

We therefore warn all admission seekers and their parents/guardians to exercise some patience and wait for the official release of screening instruction by the University. They should be wary of falling cheaply for the antics of scammers.

Kunle Akogun
Head, Corporate Affairs,
University of Ilorin.
